Benny (also known as
Kennebec Mark) is a registered Morgan
Gelding. He
was bred by Margaret Gardiner and born in Wiscasset, Maine in April
1977. I purchased Benny in 1988 and we have been having fun ever since!
Morgans are very versatile. Benny rides both English and Western and
drives a carriage. Benny excels at carriage driving and has won many
carriage driving classes. He has won at Old Dominion Morgan Horse Show,
Southern States Regional Morgan Horse Show, Carolina Classic Horsemen’s
Association, Carriage Classic in the Pines, and North Carolina State
Fair.

Juan Pablo is Dolly's first
foal, a healthy bright chestnut colt with two rear socks and a
beautiful blaze. He is a registered Half Welsh Sport
Pony out of Zip's Downtown Girl and by Wynnbrook Starburst. Wynn
is a champion Welsh Pony stallion having achieved the First Premium
Premier rating with the American Sportpony Registry along with his
successful show career. Double K Farm was so pleased with this cross,
in fact, that Dolly was bred back to Wynn for a full brother to Juan
Pablo! Check out the new bio for Simon Peter, below!

Double K Farms proudly presents its newest member, a beautiful chestnut
colt named Simon Peter! Simon was born on May 2, 2006 around 10 PM. He
is the second foal out of Zip's Downtown Girl and shares Juan Pablo's
phenomenal sire, Wynnbrook Starburst, making them full brothers. Simon
is also a registered Half Welsh American Sportpony.

We
love
dogs and two currently reside at Double K Farm. There is Rosie,
an eight year old Labrador mix that was abandoned along a dirt road as
a puppy. Rosie loves to hunt and has been a faithful and loving
companion. Bruce, a registered Welsh Pembroke Corgi, joined us two
years ago. Corgis are herding dogs that are highly intelligent,
full of energy, and very social. Learn more at the Pembroke Corgi Association.

Hello,
my
name is Kim Kochis. I am forty-five years old and am a
veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Thanks to my military
training, I was selected for employment by the Federal Aviation
Administration as an Air Traffic Controller in 1982. I have worked in
three previous air traffic control facilities in New England. I was
transferred to Raleigh Durham Air Traffic Control Tower in May 1995.
I have loved horses and dogs my whole life. I honestly cannot remember
a time when they were not a part of my life. My passion for horses and
the desire to share the joy and pleasure of riding and carriage driving
has led me to open my farm to students.

As
a young girl, my grandmother taught me to crochet and my mother taught
me to sew. Fifteen years ago, I took a quilting class at a local quilt
shop and I have been quilting ever since. In my spare time, I like to
make items for babies and other small projects.
I have four
favorite crochet patterns. They
are granny square, shell,
lattice and chevron (also know as ripple). I like to use both acrylic
yarn and cotton yarn. Each afghan is unique, sizes, colors, and
patterns can be varied. My pricing is as follows:
Newborn
afghans at $40
Larger
child afghans at $50
Lap-sized (shell pattern)
at $75
The
quilt pattern is called "four patch" and features baby polar bear cubs
playing on ice. It is machine pieced of 100% cotton. The body is
machine quilted on a 2" diagonal and the border is hand stitched with
pearl cotton in an "echo" motif. The batting is 100% cotton, and it is
backed with muslin. At a finished size of 34" x 34", this quilt is
priced at $125.
